About Us

The Darfield Rugby Football Club has a long and proud history of involvement in both our community and  our national game at all levels-junior & senior club level, and a provincial level supply many players to the Ellesmere Rep Teams, Canterbury Country teams, and Canterbury sides. We are the biggest club in the Malvern area and one of the biggest in the Ellesmere Sub Union which is a sub union of the Canterbury Rugby Union.

We have a club room's facility situated at the Malvern Recreation Centre, which includes 3 full sized field and also a ¾ sized field used by our Junior Teams. Although rugby is the foundation of the club for the first time this year the Rugby club is running the touch module which includes a rippa rugby module run for the children on a Wednesday Night.. We also have a very close relationship with the Netball Club who often use our clubrooms for Prize giving and social Functions. The Malvern Cricket club also use our club rooms as their base during the sumner. The Clubrooms are available and often used for other activities such as Social Clubs, Seminars, Birthday Parties, If you wish to use our facilities please check out the hire our facilities page.

The Club has a passionate and fully committed committee,  whos goals are to promote the sport of Rugby in the Darfield township and Local area, putting its players, supporters, and volunteers first. We have a very vocal and avid team of supporters that will travel huge distances to make sure that our teams have the support they deserve.

We are also very lucky to have the support of a fantastic team of St Johns Personal (the Malvern St Johns Service),  that are always at our  home games making sure that if some gets injured that they have the best possible medical care available.
OUR TEAMS

Club teams range from Senior Division one through most grades down to  Under 7 which play the Rippa Rugby. r Although our Senior Division One 1 Team is  important to the club the committees aim is to make sure that all teams are given the equal respect with committee members, life members and supporters trying to get to as many games as possible on a Saturday.

2005 saw our senior men's team win the PGG Cup Ellesmere Mid Canterbury Combined  competition after playing in the final in 2004 and coming out as runner ups.
