Two of the Tasman region teams bettered their Christchurch opposition with Nelson College beating St. Andrew's College 31-5 and Marlborough Boys' College defeating St. Thomas's College 21-17. The third Tasman team, Waimea College, was beaten 3-22 by Christ's College. Shirley BHS beat Lincoln HS 61-10 in the curtain-raiser to the Crusaders vs Brumbies game on Friday, in a game that was evenly balanced in the first half. Burnside HS lost what could prove to be a crucial match to Roncalli College 7-18 and St. Bede's College "got back on the horse" beating Ashburton College 98-0.
