St. Bede's College vs Timaru BHS - Match Report May 29St. Bede's College shot out to a 19-0 lead over Timaru BHS in the first third of the game, with good tries to Matt Comyns, Carl Jeffs and Zac Lilley, two of which were converted by Zac Southen. However, a series of indiscretions at the breakdown saw two Bede's players sin- binned, leaving 13 players to play against a Timaru BHS team intent on forcing its way back into the match. Timaru centre Logan Surridge scored a try on halftime, to see the teams turn around at 19-5. In the second half St. Bede's made most of the play, but in the face of determined defence around the ruck could only add one try to their total, by replacement fullback Hagen Schulte, in the last few minutes, to earn the bonus point. Zac Southen converted that try to cap off a capable performance both at fullback and first-five eighth. For St. Bede's, Zac Southen, Matt Comyns and Shunsuke Nunomaki stood out in the backs while Carl Jeffs was again outstanding at openside flanker, ably supported by Brett Anderson and James Tucker. Loosehead prop Jack Higgins had his best game of the season. For Timaru BHS, No. 8 Doug Hill defended ably, while front rowers Aki Sieuli, Cody Hillingers and Marlix Duffy all worked hard in the tight exchanges. Lock Jamie Englebrecht stood out at lineout time. Locationhttp://www.crfu.co.nz/main/index.cfm/1,538,3427,0,html Copyright © CRFU 2013 |
