St. Bede's College vs StAC - Match Report - July 1st
2 Jul 2010
The 2010 Wyllie-Earl Shield match started with StAC dominating both territory and possession, as well as the quality of field-kicking, but
were not able to convert that advantage into points. A rather lucky, run-away try to St. Bede's right wing Zac Lilley, converted by Zac
Southen relieved the pressure in St. Bede's who then started to get their pattern going to good effect. Michael Gardner scored two tries
from close to the line and lock James Tucker got another. In the second half, Carl Jeffs, a constant thorn in the StAC side with his
running from kick-offs, scored a good try after a well-time pass from Shunsuke Nunomaki, Shayne Anderson scored a good solo effort, and Hame Toma and Matt Kottier added one each to total 60-0 by full time. (10 tries, plus 5 conversions from Zac Southen) While St. Bede's looked ominous as we approach the business end of the season, St. Andrew's can gain some heart from good individual performances by Jackson Taylor at loosehead prop, James Fairburn at second-five and locks Whitehead and Tomlinson.
