Junior Tournament Week
Christchurch was host to the South Island Secondary School Girls Tournament, held at St Bede’s College, which saw Canterbury come out champions, with convincing wins over the Hanan Shields side, Otago and Southland. Lincoln Club hosted the finals weekend of the Southland Under 18 Tournament, with Canterbury Metro finishing on top with a convincing 37-0 win over Otago Country in the final, and Canterbury Country finished 6th after they went down to South Canterbury 29-13 in their play off. Our Canterbury Metro and Country Under 16 sides ventured up to Blenheim for the South Island Under 16 Tournament, where Metro had a nail-biting win over Otago Metro 22-19 in the Final, to take out the tournament, and Country finished 5th after a close win over Otago Country in their final match. This year’s Under 65 and 48kg Primary School Tournaments were held at Bathgate Park in Dunedin, which saw the four Canterbury Metro and Country sides finishing strongly.
